Powerful testimony of a great person in the early days of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Fascinating insights to the early history, and awe-inspiring at what has become from those first beginnings. (Keeps you reading into the night, it is after midnight as I write this.) Excellent advice and counsel that should be well-heeded!
VERY IMPORTANT HISTORICAL INFORMATION FOR LDS READERS REGARDING THE FOURTH PRESIDENT OF THE CHURCH. I BELIEVE FOURTH IS CORRECT.

All to often, books written in the 19th century are prosy and take a tediously long time to get to the point. This book is right up to modern standards of clear direct writing and lures the reader on to read just one more short, inspiring chapter. Many miracles are factually reported and boost faith in an era such as our day, when faith in divine intervention is at an all-time low.
A similar inspiring book is "The Autobiography of Parley P Pratt".
I enjoyed reading actual writings from the journal of Wilford Woodruff. It's four stars instead of five because sometimes the editing, or what was chosen to use in the book and what was not, made continuity a little choppy. If you are looking for well-polished autobiography, this isn't that book. This is the real daily journal writing of a man who didn't know what his destiny was, but tried to do what the Lord asked every single day.
My husband and I have just started reading it. I read to him when we are driving a distance. It is nice to learn more about one of our earlier prophets, Wilford Woodruff. Looking forward to learning more about the early church as well. This is actually from the pages of Wilford Woodruff's Journal and not a biography, though I like those as well.
Loved reading this journal. Wilford Woodruff had many experiences and I was completely surprised at the reactions of the people he met on his journeys. Recommended reading for all LDS people!
